Case Study:

The #GoodGovernment Kitchen with State Auditor Pat McCarthy

From Creative Sparks to Statewide Campaign

In 2021, I was tasked with helping the Washington State Auditor’s Office stand out at its largest annual event—the virtual Washington Finance Officers Association (WFOA) conference. While most agencies focused on static presentations of their services, I saw an opportunity to do something different.

I pitched a bold idea: a short video featuring State Auditor Pat McCarthy making a cozy fall drink from her kitchen while casually discussing the importance of state auditing. The goal? Humanize government work, foster connection in a virtual setting, and invite attendees into something that felt both warm and meaningful.

With executive buy-in secured, I led the concept from end to end—ideating, filming, editing, and producing the final piece. The result was The #GoodGovernment Kitchen: a creative, high-engagement video that drew every single attendee to our virtual booth and sparked real-time conversations.

The success of that one video led to something bigger. I transformed it into a full digital campaign across the agency’s platforms, developing a content strategy, directing new episodes, and managing stakeholder coordination across teams. What began as a virtual booth idea became a long-running series that blended storytelling, transparency, and creative public engagement.

My Role:

  • Pitched and produced the original concept

  • Secured stakeholder and executive alignment

  • Managed end-to-end video production

  • Led expansion into a full digital campaign

Impact:
The campaign elevated the agency’s digital presence, redefined how it engaged with the public, and showcased my ability to turn a creative vision into a strategic, multi-platform initiative.

Have a wild idea that needs buy-in and execution? Let’s make it happen.
